INTEROPERABILITY OF THE RAILWAY SYSTEM
In the field of interoperability of railway traffic, as a national safety authority, the Directorate for Railways has the following competencies:
- grants authorisations for placing in service of structural subsystems on the basis of the verification of technical compatibility and safe integration in the system,
- grants authorisations for type of vehicle,
- grants authorisations for placing in service of vehicles harmonized with TSI ,
- grants complementary authorisations for placing in service of vehicles harmonized with TSI,
- grants authorisations for placing in service of vehicles not harmonized with TSI,
- grants complementary authorisations for placing in service of vehicles not harmonized with TSI,
- keeps and updates National Vehicles Register,
- publishes technical specifications of interoperability,
- passes regulations in the field of interoperability,
- adopts a list of standards in the field of interoperability,
- keeps all necessary records according to the Law on Interoperability of the Railway System,
- performs other activities according to the Law.
In the field of interoperability of railway transport, the Directorate has the following competencies as a designated body:
- grants certificates of verification for a subsystem or part of subsystem, according to national legislation.
