LICENSING OF RAILWAY UNDERTAKINGS
Transport of goods and passengers by rail can only be provided by a railway undertaking or a company providing transport by rail for its own needs, i.e. a company or other legal entity that owns a license for railway transport in accordance with the Law on Railways ("Official Gazette of the RS", no. 41/2018 as of 31 May 2018).
The Directorate for Railways performs the following tasks in this area:

- grants licences for companies operating for their own needs,
- checks, once a year, whether railway undertakings meet the prescribed conditions and
- keeps records of issued licences.
Licences are granted for an unlimited period time.
